HOUSTON – A distracted truck driver collided with four vehicles, resulting in over 200 gallons of gasoline being spilled on the roadway on Wednesday, August 26.
The driver told investigators that he had dropped something and was reaching down to get it from the floorboard of his truck. The negligence of the driver resulted in the 18-wheeler veering into the right shoulder only to come back left, hitting four other vehicles as he crossed into the HOV lane off of 59 Eastex Freeway.
Three people, including the truck driver, were transported to the hospital. Fortunately, the injuries didn’t appear to be life-threatening, although the severity remains unknown.
