FOREST HILL – Halloween festivities ended in tragedy when a drunk driver struck and killed two in the early morning on Sunday, November 1.
Jose Salinas-Gomez, 23, was driving an SUV in a residential neighborhood at the intersection of Richard Street and Hartman Road when he rear-ended as sedan carrying four people around 3am. Two of the passengers were killed – ages 63 and 76. The 76-year-old was identified as George Moon.
The other two in the sedan – the driver and a 45-year-old passenger – were transported to John Peter Smith Hospital for treatment.
Salinas-Gomez was arrested and charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter and two counts of intoxication assault. His bond’s been set for $750,000. Forest Hill Police are currently pursuing an investigation for DWI and more charges could be filed depending on the results.
