BEDFORD – A suspect fleeing from law enforcement crashed into a vehicle carrying an expecting couple, leaving one dead and the other in critical condition on Thursday, June 25.
Colby Bozo, 25-years-old and an Army veteran, was killed on impact after being t-boned by Jason Miller, 29, who was fleeing from law enforcement in a stolen Audi.
Bozo’s wife, Kristin, was sitting in the passenger’s seat. At 37 weeks pregnant, the newlywed couple was returning home after a doctor’s appointment when the accident occurred. Kristin was airlifted to John Peter Smith Hospital where she remains in critical condition. The couple’s child, named Brody, was delivered prematurely via emergency measures. Police report that the child is also in critical condition and is in a different hospital.
Miller attempted to flee the scene but was detained by police officers. It was later discovered that Miller was released from prison in 2013 after being convicted of a manslaughter charge in 2005, having shot and killed a man in Dallas.
Miller is presently being held at Bedford Law Enforcement Center with a bond exceeding $1 million. He faces charges for murder, evading arrest, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and possession of a controlled substance.
