DALLAS – A bus operator for DART was killed after being struck by another driver on Monday, June 29.
The accident occurred around 5am on Monday while the victim was preparing for his routes. Another driver was pulling out when the victim, who was walking around the facility, was hit. It’s unclear as to whether or not the victim was wearing a reflective vest; there were no other passengers on the bus.
The victim was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries approximately 30 minutes after being admitted. The deceased had reportedly been with the company since November.
The driver who hit the man is 55-years-old and has been with DART for 12 years. Company officials say the man has had a clean driving record. According to DART policy, the man will be given a drug test and put on temporary leave.
DART police are investigating, but it’s believed the incident is just a horrible accident.
