DALLAS – Two children were killed and one person was arrested after a tragic crash in Dallas.
Witnesses told investigators that a black Range Rover SUV was going more than 100mph on eastbound Highway 175 near Elsie Faye Heggins Street when he hit a another car around 1:30pm Friday afternoon.
Kelvin Leon Walker, 23, has been identified as the suspect, and has so far been charged with one vehicular manslaughter charge, said Raul Reyna, public information officer for the Dallas County Sheriff’s Office. Toxicology tests are pending.
Yahir Cervantes-Oliver, 12, was ejected from the other vehicle. He died at the scene. His 13-month-old baby sister Aylin Cervantes-Oliver was taken to a local children’s hospital, where she was pronounced dead a short time later.
The parents of the children and a third child were also in the vehicle, but were uninjured. Walker is hospitalized for injuries related to the crash.
All eastbound lanes of 175 were closed for several hours, but reopened just before 5:30pm.
