SAN ANTONIO – Early Saturday (June 21) morning, a crash in the city’s far west side resulted in the deaths of a young couple and sent three people to the hospital with serious injuries.
Police report that a Mitsubishi Galant carrying four people was stopped at a red light on 410 and Highway 151 around 1:30am when a woman driving a Chevrolet Captiva rear-ended them.
Lauren Molina, 21, and her boyfriend, Nicholas Ramirez, 22, were in the back of the Galant when the accident occurred. The couple had just moved in together and were on their way home with two of the co-workers from Cheddar’s. Both were wearing their seat belts.
The driver of the Captiva was identified as 26-year-old Silvia Herrera. Herrera, who is currently hospitalized is facing two criminal charges of intoxication manslaughter and one charge of intoxication assault.
The driver and front passenger of the Galant survived the crash but were both taken to University Hospital because of serious injuries.
