HUMBLE – A 4-year-old child is dead and a motorcyclist is fighting for his life after both were injured in a major wreck on Monday, October 26.
The accident happened on FM 1960 at Moonshine Hill shortly before 2 p.m. Monday. A Ford Expedition was struck on the passenger side by a motorcycle. Witnesses at the scene say the motorcyclist was traveling at a high rate of speed.
The motorcyclist was sent flying into the family’s SUV, and his helmet struck 4-year-old Zander Orteja Thomas. Zander was in the rear seat in a child safety seat. Witnesses reportedly removed the car seat from the SUV, while he was still strapped in. Zander was taken by ambulance to a local hospital, and then transferred to Memorial Hermann Hospital by Life Flight. The motorcyclist was also taken to Memorial Hermann by Life Flight. Zander died Tuesday.
No word on whether any charges will be filed in this wreck.
